Top 7: the Best Webcams for Gaming Streamers
There are multiple elements a great streaming setup consists of on Twitch and Youtube. Making sure you have good hardware, good microphone which we already covered in this article and if you are planning on building your brand around your personality, a streaming webcam or a decent facecam goes a long way to establish a connection with your viewers on Twitch.
I have personally setup content creators with high end cameras, 4k webcams and more affordable streaming webcams for this purpose and this article will share my thoughts and experience on the best and also some of the best budget webcam options on the current market.
Top 7 Best Webcam for streaming
We will go with the cheap streaming webcams options first and go towards the better 4k webcams afterwards for facecam. Keep in mind that camera alone may not be enough and you should think of setting up proper lighting especially if you will be streaming in a dimly lit room as that will heavily impact the image quality. You can also go with a cheap webcam first and as growth is happening on Twitch you can upgrade to a better 4k webcam. With that said, lets go through the following webcams and see which has usable autofocus, 60fps (frames per second) or 4k support and can be seen as your long-term facecam for your twitch streams.
Logitech C920 - 60$
One of the old school yet still relevant webcams on the market is the Logitech C920. If you are just starting out and you can not spend much on webcam, this is a good starting point that you can upgrade from afterwards.
Pros:
- 1080p, 30fps
- Decent field of view
Cons:
- Needs lighting for low light setups
- In full screen, it will not look as good so you may want to avoid using a full camera screen for your stream
- Autofocus not reliable, should use manual focus adjustment
- Does not support 60fps
- No 4k support
Depstech Webcam 4k - 80$
If you are planning on having a full webcam scene for your streams or videos, you should considering getting a 4k streaming camera that does the trick,
Pros:
- 4k webcam
- Cheapest alternative compared to other 4k webcams like the Logitech Brio 4k for example
- Best budget option for a 4k facecam
Cons:
- Needs lighting for low light setups
- Autofocus not the best
- Does not support 60fps
Razer Kiyo - 50$-100$
These days the original Razer Kiyo can be found frequently on a significant discount on Amazon and other platforms which could make it one of the best webcams to buy on a budget if you are lucky. And there are no real alternatives on the budget webcam list that would support 60fps.
Pros:
- 1080p resolution with 30fps
- 60fps support in 720p resolution
- Comes with a built-in ring light
- From budget webcams, this might be the best and working in low light setups
- Best budget option for facecam when it is on discount
- Good autofocus
Cons:
- Software can be unreliable
- No 4k support
Logitech StreamCam - 140$
Maybe you can't afford the best webcam but still want a decent streaming camera to be used as a facecam. Logitech StreamCam offers a middle-ground option between an expensive 4k webcam like the Insta360 or the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra and a budget option like the C920.
Pros:
- 1080p resolution
- 60fps support
- Good image quality if well lit
Cons:
- Does not support 4k resolution
- Poor video quality in low light
Logitech Brio - 200$
A big upgrade from Logitech StreamCam as the Logitech Brio had some big upgrade with its 4k resolution, better field of view and also allows for 60fps streaming in 1080p
Pros:
- 4k webcam
- Decent video quality
- Supports 60fps
- 90 degree FOV
- Can be found on a sale frequently so you can buy it for cheaper
Cons:
- Needs extra lighting for low light
Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra - 300$
The big brother of the first Razer Kiyo we already mentioned, this is the expensive 4k webcam model that supports 4k 30fps, but also 1080p 60fps and probably has the closest video quality to a DSLR camera. If you are not planning on doing variety streaming/acting in your streaming room and do not need a camera tracking your movement across the room like the Insta360 then this camera might be worth getting as your main facecam tool. It supports 60fps and also has DSLR like image quality that makes it a solid contender for the best streaming webcam.
Pros:
- 4k webcam
- Great video quality
- HDR support
- Amazing autofocus
- Supports 60fps
- Good in low light
- Nice depth of field
Cons:
- Expensive
- Not a lot of flexibility option compared to Insta360
- Support software is a bit unreliable
Insta360 Link - 300$
Now we are going to talk about potentially the best streaming webcam on this list. Insta360 is the best webcam in my personal opinion when it comes to choosing from 4k webcams in this article. With its reliable autofocus and unique gimbal system it can track your movement and for streamers. It is also versatile and allows professional gamers/streamers to do variety streams inside their room as the webcam can be used as a facecam or a webcam to record something else in the room or to stream your mouse, keyboard, controller input.
Pros:
- 4k webcam
- Great video quality
- 360 gimball and can track your movement
- Amazing autofocus
- Supports 60fps
- Great software support
- Supports desk/keyboard view for pro players who want to showcase their mouse/keyboard/controller while gaming
- Works well in low light
Cons:
- Expensive
Personal Choice for Best Webcam - Insta360 link or Razer Kiyo on discount
These are all great streaming webcams however I personally think that if you can find a Razer Kiyo on a budget, that would be your best option for a solid webcam quality that you can further improve with some lighting setup to counter its poor low light performance.
But otherwise the Insta360 Link just offers so many extra features compared to the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra that I think overall it offers way more flexibility for your Twitch stream than the Razer Kiyo Pro ultra and just like that camera it also supports 60fps streaming in 1080p.
